What is Planned Preventative Maintenance?
Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) is a schedule of planned maintenance actions aimed at the prevention of breakdowns and failures.
PPM’s primary goal is to prevent the failure of equipment.

Value of Preventive Maintenance?
There are many misconceptions about preventive maintenance.
One example is that PPM is unduly expensive. This statement could be true if all you considered was the cost associated with a PPM program versus the cost to operate equipment until repair is absolutely necessary.
However, one should compare not only the costs but the long-term benefits and savings associated with PPM. Without PPM, for example, costs for lost production time from unscheduled equipment breakdown will be incurred. PPM will also result in savings due to an increase in effective machine life. Your equipment will use less energy, less chemical, less water and less consumable while performing a far superior job.
